Flock & Field + Bin & Box: Selling Off the Farm Without a Second Set of Books

A lot of homesteads outgrow "just a farm" — soap, eggs, jam, whatever's left over after the animals are fed, all of it ends up for sale somewhere. Once that side of things gets big enough to need real inventory tracking, you're usually stuck keeping two systems straight by hand. Flock & Field now talks directly to Bin & Box so you don't have to.

Two different jobs, one growing overlap

Flock & Field was built around the animals — health records, breeding, pastures, feed, the whole day-to-day of running livestock. Bin & Box was built around inventory at scale — knowing exactly what you have, where it is, and what it's worth, without a spreadsheet holding it all together.

They're separate products solving separate problems, and most farms using Flock & Field will never need Bin & Box at all. But some do: a homestead that's grown a real side business — soap, jam, preserved goods, whatever — to the point where "how much do we actually have on hand, and did that last batch actually sell through" stops being answerable from memory. That's the overlap this integration is for.

What actually happens automatically

Once a Flock & Field farm connects its Bin & Box account, two things stay in sync without anyone re-typing anything:

It's one-directional on purpose — Flock & Field pushes updates into Bin & Box as they happen; Bin & Box never reaches back into Flock & Field. Your animal records, health history, and breeding data stay exactly where they've always been. Bin & Box just gets told about the parts of that data relevant to inventory, the moment those parts change.

Sync just what you actually need

Animals and homestead products sync independently — a farm that only wants its soap inventory tracked in Bin & Box, without every for-sale goat also showing up there, can turn animal syncing off and leave product syncing on (or the reverse). Nothing forces an all-or-nothing choice.

Who this is actually for

If you're running a straightforward homestead — a few animals, eggs and milk for the family or a small local following — this integration isn't going to change anything for you, and that's fine. It's aimed at the farms that have quietly turned into small businesses: enough product moving that "did we actually sell through last month's batch" needs a real answer, not a guess from the last time someone glanced at the shelf.

Already using Flock & Field and outgrowing a spreadsheet for the side business? Connect Bin & Box from your farm's Members page and the sync starts working immediately — nothing to migrate, no second system to keep updating by hand.
